We have multiple, stand-alone SSRS 2005 SE x86 reporting servers that access SQL 2008 R2 databases (data sources) located on a separate database server (SQL 2008 R2 instance). We want to upgrade/replace these SSRS 2005 SE x86 reporting servers with equivalent SSRS 2012 SE x64 or SSRS 2008 R2 SE x64 reporting servers.
The tentative plan is to bring up the new SSRS reporting servers in parallel (no upgrading in place- seems too risky with no fallback plan should something go wrong) and then methodically migrate the existing views/models, reports, report subscriptions, etc. Once a successful migration has taken place, the associated SSRS 2005 reporting server will be retired.
Does anyone have experience doing this and/or know of good resources or tools/utilities that will help facilitate the process? We're leaning toward going with SSRS 2012 (latest and greatest), but also want to make sure that skipping past SSRS 2008 and SSRS 2008 R2 doesn't present any migration issues in this case.
