Find the start of the financial year

Hi, I am using Report Builder 3.0 and I am fairly new to this so please bear with me.

I have created a report with two parameters, one for end date and one for start date, the end date is a set of predefined dates to select from, and the start date is a hidden parameter that calculates the first day of the week based on the end date selected.

Our financial year runs from 01 Oct to 30 Sept, so today being 01/05/13 would be fiscal year of FY13.  I have several tables in my report and I would like to filter the data based on the fiscal year.  I somehow need to work out which fiscal year the date the user has selected is in and then filter my data accordingly.  My data has a column called fiscal year in it and it already populated with FY13, FY12 etc.  How can I work out if the date the user is selecting is in FY12 etc and filter accordingly?  This is really baffling me because effectively I need to say:  If Date selected by user is greater than Sept 2013 but less than Oct 2014 the fiscal year is 2014.  Ha, I've confused myself just writing this question lol, my head hurts.
