SQL Server 2012 - Configure Reporting Services - Connection Error

Hello Community!

I am working with SQL Server 2012 and I have Reporting Services installed.  Now I want to configure SSRS and add a database from the Configuration Manager, but when I try to connect I get this error:

Could not connect to server: A network error or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - could not open a connection to SQL Server)

Has anyone else seen this error and if so can you guide me through how to correct it?

Thanks!

Tom
