I was wondering if it's possible to restore a ReportServer database into a new reporting services instance without the corresponding ReportServerTempDB from the original instance?
I performed a test where I installed a new Reporting Services instance and created a new ReportServer, ReportServerTempDB database. I then restored a ReportServer backup from a different instance into my new instance and re-configured my new instance to use the new ReportServer database.
This seems to work fine, using the restored ReportServer backup with the new ReportServerTempDB even though I've read elsewhere that the ReportServer backup has to be moved with it's corresponding ReportServerTempDB.
Is there something specific that won't work in this scenario?
One possible issue I've noticed is that the SQL Agent jobs haven't been created for the report subscriptions in the restored ReportServer DB. Could this be because I'm not using the original ReportServerTempDB?
