Recently we upgraded one of our SQL server 2008 R2 from SP1 to SP2. The installation was successful but when the server rebooted, the Reporting Service did not comeup with the following error message
The SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
When googled i got the following articles which gives a work around
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2745448
The article says to install an update or change the registry
i went on with changing the registry by adding ServicesPipeTimeout of 60 seconds. After the changes, the reporting service came up, but after 2 weeks when the server rebooted again the Reporting service didnt come up and have to change the timeout to 120 seconds to get it running.
To avoid keep updating the registry, i planned to apply the patch mentioned inhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/2677070. I got a message that the update does not apply to your system.
Does anyone have any other work around apart from changing the registry
