SSRS 2008 R2 no background color except for ReportServer

Hi, We have a report developed in SSRS 2008 R2 and when the report is exported to any file format users don't want to see the background color as they print black&white. well for each I wrote an expression to handle this but the problem is this made the report too slow. Is there a better way to accomplish this than what I am using?
