I created many shared datasets in my reporting project, after deployment, both shared datasets and reports were deployed to same folder (I think there is no way you can deploy them to separate folders). To make that folder clean, after deployment, I moved all shared datasets to a subfolder, everything works file, the issue come when I try to deploy reports only again(If I deploy dataset as well, it will be deployed the same folder again), SSRS complains it couldn’t find shared dataset.
So I have to deploy all of them every time I have even minor changes on reports, and then manually move shared dataset to subfolder.
Any idea of how to get rid of manual steps? I am using SSRS 2008 + Visual Studio 2008
