SQL expression report builder 3.0

I am using report builder 3.0 on sql server 2008 R2. I have a Country field, and I want to get some of the first fields in the report. The fields are in SharePoint list and it is like: Eng. - England , Denm. - Denmark, It. -Italy,... What I would like it to appear on the report  is all letters before "-" sign

I tried it with "LEFT" or "SUBSTRING" But both of them force me to give them definite number, in my case it is not. There are different length of letters before  the "-" sign.
