Can't Configure Data Source for Azure

I have a web site currently running on a Rackspace server. I am moving it to Azure. I have moved the database into an Azure SQL server instance so that I don't have to pay for full time VM anymore.

I have also set up a smaller VM that I will use just to house the SSRS report server.

I copied my report project to this new VM and opened it in Visual Studio. I modified the SQL connection string to point to the Azure SQL database. I then preview the report in Visual Studio and it works fine. I can preview it and see data.

I deployed the report to the new VM (same computer). I stopped and started the SSRS service and browse to the report server page. I get the following error:

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'MapItTrackIt'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) The report server has encountered a configuration error. (rsServerConfigurationError)

So on the VM I go to the SSRS manager and browse to the /Reports page that allows for management inside a web browser.

I browse to this report and pull up the management pages for it.

There is a Data Source page. On this page when I hit Test Connection I see the following in red:

The report server has encountered a configuration error.

I set up all the same settings in this page as are in the Visual Studio Data Connection page that works and yet it doesn't work here.

I also tried creating a new shared data source and get the same error.

Can someone help me?
