using the sum of one column data into another column in ssrs
Hello,
I've grouped the values of one column and added it as a sum. And I want to use this value in another column as a expression. But it isn't using the sum value. It is using the individual value.
examp:
| Process nAME | data given | value(This result is sum of individual value for the given group abc i.e. 2500+2500) | Individual Data | Difference(this is the subtraction of data given and value fields) |
| abc | 5000 | 5000 | 2500 | 0 |
| 2500 |
I need to write an expression for the difference field so that it can subtract Value field data from data given field.
Instead my expression is subtracting data given field value from Individual data field. It isn't using the summed up value.
I'm getting the result as 5000 - 2500 = 2500.
But I should get it as 5000 - 5000 = 0

Size Limit for Dataset Query in Report Designer
I was working on the SSRS Report Designer and was trying to copy and paste a huge SQL query from SQL Management Studio (like I always do) to the dataset window.
This method usually works, but for this extremely long SQL query with nested SELECTs and JOINs, it seems as though the Report Designer dataset query window limits the number of characters including carriage returns I can input in it.
When I paste my SQL query from SQL Management Studio, it seems to paste only three quarters of the query, and thereafter I am not able to manually key in anything else or even make a line feed in the dataset query window.
Is there a limit to the number of characters I can key in here ? If so, is there any workarounds or configurations I can try ?

Cannot repeat static column groups in Report Builder
I'm using Microsoft Report Builder 2014 and I have a Tablix that has 20 columns. Only about 10 can fit on one page lengthwise. When running a report the first 10 will appear on page one. The second 10 will appear on page 2. I would like the first column of the Tablix to repeat on the left side of each page.
The instructions at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd207045(v=sql.120).aspx appeared to be exactly what I was looking for. I followed the steps under "To display a static tablix member (row or column) on multiple pages".
While these steps work as expected for static row groups, when following them exactly as described they do not work for static column groups. The following error occurs when running the report:
The tablix 'Tablix7' has an invalid TablixMember. All TablixMember elements in a TablixColumnHierarchy must have the KeepWithGroup property set to "None".
Setting KeepWithGroup to "None" and keeping RepeatOnNewPage causes an error as well:

Is there a way to allow one or more static column groups to repeat on multiple pages? Or another way to get that first column to repeat on the next page? The documentation implies this is possible, but following the steps as provided results in report errors.

using url access with a param that contains blanks
Hi, I'm running 2014 enterprise and making an http request to ssrs with this format... http://mycomputer.mydomain.com/reportserver_instance2?/folder1/folder2/reportname&Year=2016&Month=02&Dept=xxxx yyyy zzzz&Demog1=fff&Demog2=ggg&Demog3=hhhhhhhhh&rs:Format=EXCEL
I'm pretty sure the gaps in dept name are causing a problem as ssrs is complaing about passed or default value in dept. What do I fill in those blank gaps?

Close an opened report in Report Builder 2014
I just installed the "Microsoft SQL Server Report Builder 3.0" application on my windows machine. I have successfully connected the a reporting services server and am able to open and edit a report. The one thing I don't see in the interface is a way to just close the report after viewing. Any idea where this is located on the interface?

Tables - Growth and Percentages and Filters and Expressions

I have the following table in design
- How do I work out the % of spend **(see at example below) and the variance between periods ? As my calculations gives errors - for variance I have
=((Fields!Previous_Amount.Value - Fields!Current_Amount.Value) / Fields!Current_Amount.Value)
- How do I specify in the expression to filter only on Domestic Air for an example as I currently have overlapping tables that is filtered ? In other words how can I haveone table with different filters per row ?
- How can I write conditional formatting to an amount for example if something is negative make the background red ?
- How can I keep my table format even though it is blank ? as per below example blank ones is not keeping the borders as yellow highlighted ?
My desired layout needs to look like this :
**The first 3 % of spend is of total air but the Total Air % is of the grand total -- ?

Repeating headers
I have a tablix that runs on multiple pages. I would like to repeat my column headers on each page. I don't have any groups.
I have clicked Tablix properties and selected 'Repeat header columns on each page', but it does nothing for me.
What am I missing?

Browser Requirements SSRS 2012 Windows 10
This link for SSRS 2012 does not include Windows 10 in its 'Browser Requirements for Viewing Reports' table:

RS.EXE is missing
I just performed a fresh install of SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition SP1, including "Reporting Services" in Native mode on Windows 2008 R2. I cannot find the executable "RS.exe" anywhere in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server". According to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms162839%28v=sql.110%29.aspx , it should be in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn".
I want to import some extracted RDLs from a 2005 edition of SSRS.

SSRS 2016 RC2 - Oracle Connection Type missing

I had upgraded to RC2 yesterday. Previously, I had installed RC0 which used the Oracle connection type. Since I upgraded to RC, the oracle connection type is missing. I can't seem to get the OLEDB working. Do you know why oracle connection type has been removed?

SSRS 2016 Mobile Reports Security
Hi,
I've been testing the new Report Manger (Reports_Preview) and have noticed what I believe are some anomalies with the security settings. Please bare with me as I don't have a great deal of experience with SSRS.
First, the builtin Browser Role is not sufficient to allow access to the new 'Mobile Reports'. In my testing I have found the following Tasks the bare minimum (I created custom Roles each with only one Task to test to the lowest level of granularity):
Home: Manage Reports Only
Data Sources: None
Datasets: Consume Reports, View Reports Only
Reports (Directory in which Mobile Reports reside): View Resources Only
In my view there seems to be a lack of clarity as to what a Mobile Report is classed as, is it either a Report or a Resource?
It appears to require the View and Consume Reports Tasks to access the datasets but will only appear if View Resources is granted.
More importantly, however, it seems that (after a non exhaustive test) the Manage Reports Task is required in the Home directory; I presume this isn't the intended result, is it?
Lastly, I have a few questions:
1) Is anybody else able to reproduce the security anomalies mentioned above?
2) Can somebody please explain what, if anything I've done wrong?
3) If I haven't and assuming the current requirements are not correct, what are the indented security settings?
4) Are there going to be new builtin Roles and or Tasks specifically for Mobile Reports?

SSRS 2016 RC1: Popup, but everything works correctly: An error has occurred. The permissions granted to user DOM\name are insufficient for performing this operation.

we have the following scenario:
- SSRS 2016 RC1, using the new report portal
- Root folder: Default performissions
- In the root folder, there are 3 folders: name_reports, name_datasets, name_datasources (for those entities, root is empty otherwise)
- Reports use shared data sets, shared data sources, sub reports
- Normal users get browse permissions on the name_reports and name_datasets folders, but not name_datasources
Now, the following happens:
- Super users: Everything works fine
- Normal users cannot access the root folder (as intended)
- Normal users are given the link to the reports folder http://ssrs.server.dom/Reports/browse/name_reports
- The reports folder open, but there is another popup on the screen: An error has occurred. The permissions granted to user DOM\name are insufficient for performing this operation.
- Confirm with OK, and everything is available, reports open correctly, etc.
- So, everything works, but all users get a very irritating error popup
Does anyone else experience this?
What is the source?
Is there a workaround?
We tried assigning more permissions, but it did not cause any change so far.

SSRS 2012, Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException with status code returned from the server was: 12029.
I am executing a huge report which has 8 subreports in SSRS 2012, Out of 15 times of execution I get this error once. Some time the report doesn't renders and there is an error icon at the left bottom of the web page. When I click open it to see the details,
it gives following error;
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while
processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 12029.
Any help on this will be appreciated.

Adding percentages to a totals matrix
Hi all,
This is great and shows my totals I need, but need to add underneath the percentages.
The first example would be for Q1 (=Fields!Quarter_Of_Arrival.Value), Month 4 (=Fields!Month_Of_Arrival.Value) where the totals are =Count(Fields!BPT_Uplift_Calc.Value).
so trying to build in a % row also to show 100/61*15 = 24.59%

hits per page ?
Hello,
I have implemented paging in my ssrs report i.e. 10 rows per page...
If my dataset retrieves all 1000 rows, then are all the records returned from sql server in one go or is there a hit to sql server table for each page?
