Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER)

This error is being displayed in the eventlog every minute.  Any ideas on what it is referring too?  I reviewed some posts but most point to specific problems of report server not running, or receiving this error during a run.  We are receiving no errors at all.  However this is jamming up the event viewer to make troubleshooting other issues very diffucult.

KPIs and Sub-KPIs

In Datazen we have the ability to create sub KPIs. I see no such functionality in the new migrated mobile BI in SSRS.

Are we able to create sub-KPI's?

Thanks,

SSRS 2008: connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError)

Hi,

I have started getting this error since a week now when I try to schedule a report or change a schedule of a report.

An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError) Get Online Help For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors

We have SQL Server 2008 installed along with SSRS running on the server. I have never seen this happening before for almost a year now but suddenly it appeared.  Along with this, report subscription is also messed up and some report are not been emailed as they have a error like:

Failure sending mail: An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database.Mail will not be resent.

I am not sure what caused this but if anyone has any idea of what is going on it will be great.

Thanks you for your help.

Please reply soooon !!!

How to Add ACTION Hyperlink to a Toggle Column

$

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out a way to add an Action detail report to a column that has a toggle (+/-) on it.

For example:

+ Marbles 75

-  Red Marbles 30
- Blue Marbles 45

When the Marbles is collapsed (+) I want to click on the cell containing the 75 value and go to a detail report so that all 75 marbles are displayed.  I need to pass as an argument the context of the "collapsed" state.

When the Marbles are expanded (-), I want to click on the cell containing the 30 or 45 and show only the Red or Blue marbles respectively.

How do I do this?  I can't seem to figure out how to pass toggle state context to the detail report.

Thanks for your help!

Move\Migrate SSRS database to 2016

I have the SQL Server \SSRS 2016 RC downloaded and configured so that we can start testing the SSRS environment. I tried moving the 2014 SSRS databases over to the new test box using the following steps.

1) Backed up and restored ReportServer database.

2) Backed up and restored ReportServerTempDB database.

3) Backed up and restored the encryption keys.

4) Restarted the SSRS 2016.

The SSRS home page comes up fine. I see all my folders and reports etc from 2014. But, normally when I restore the encryption keys in the past, all the subscription SQL Agent jobs gets moved as well or gets created as well. But this time, I didn't see this happen. There is nothing under SQL Agents Jobs. Tried searching the blogs to see if there was any mention of any new feature or new ways of doing the migration but not seeing a whole lot of info. Has anyone gone through the SSRS migration? Am I doing something or missing something?

I have a indicator which turns green when all conditions outlined below are met else turns yellow.

All my datasets datatypes are strings but even then I keep getting a warning message-

"input string was not in a correct format "

When removed one by one case I figured out which case(highlighted below) was causing the problem but right now I dont know what I have to do fix the warning which I am getting

Unable to install Client Print Control for SSRS 2014 onto a 32-bit Windows 7 PC

The title pretty much says it all.

We have a client who recently upgraded to SQL Server 2014. Everything looked good until they tried to print out a SSRS report on a 32-bit Windows 7 machine. First the prompt pops up asking if you want to download the control from Microsoft. Hit yes, and it acts like it is going to install. Instead of the printer dialog, we get an error that states:Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled, or try using Internet Explorer for the desktop.

We had no problem with SSRS 2012 Client print control. I have tried installing it with UAC turned off, and as Domain admin (which normally fixed the problem in older versions).

I have tried to install it manually by extracting the files from the C:\Program Files\MSRS12\Reportingervices\ReportServer\Bin\RSClientPrint-x86.cab and putting the files at C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files and ran  regsvr32.exe /s "C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\RSClientprint.dll" This has not worked either.

Any suggestions on what I should try next? Or will this even run on a 32-bit version of Windows 7?

Migrate SQL 2008 R2 reports into 2014

I am looking for a solution to recover 22 reports from a now dismantled 2008r2 SSRS solution. I did detach and save the ReportServer and ReportServerTemp databases.  I know in hindsight, I should have downloaded each of the RDL files from 2008r2 and then upload into 2014.  A note for anyone considering an upgrade, save your RDL files.

I ask anyone with recommendations or ideas, please let me know.  I do not look forward to rebuilding the reports – my memory is not that good.

Thank you

Custom Palette Gradient

I have a custom palette for my column chart. I would like the column to be graident colour from itself to a lighter shade of itself.

For example my custom palette is "Blue", "Green" etc
I want to be able to gradient my columns so my question is.
In the Series -  Fill - Gradient I have my primary color as Automatic (based on my Custom Palette).
is there a way to set the Secondary Color to a lighter shade of the Primary color based on the Primary Colour value.

Thanks

Top N report Total row not correct

$

I have a simple report that does something like show me the Top 30 Customers by Revenue - with a grand total then at the bottom for the top 30 customers.  For some odd reason, my grand total at the bottom does not show the total for my top 30 customers, it shows the total for all customers.  Am I missing something silly?

Here is what I do:

Using a Tablix, I inserted a group called "Customer" based on Customers.  Added a filter to this group that basically does a Top 30 on the revenue field:

Expression: =Sum(Fields!ContractValue.Value, "Customer")
Operator: Top N
Value: =30

The report so far works great and shows my top 30 customers by revenue....

On the "Customers" group I then "Add Total After" to get a total line at the bottom of my table.  Only problem is the totals does not add up - it shows totals for all Customers (and not just my top 30).

How do I get the total line to only display the total for my top 30 customers?

Need help making a by week column chart

(SharePoint 2010, data originates in a list, Report Builder 3.0)

I have the need to create a chart based on week.

For example,

Week 1 (Jan 04-10 2016)

Week 2 (Jan 11-17 2016)

Week 3 (Jan 18-24 2016)

My data is something along the lines of:

ITEM            COMPLETED

Widget A       Jan 4       Widget D     Jan 13

Widget B       Jan 4       Widget E     Jan 20

Widget C       Jan 9       Widget F     Jan 23

What I am looking for is a column chart, that would group the items by week and display something like

   |

   |                            |

   |             |              |

Jan 4      Jan 11     Jan 18

Get #ERROR with IIF(xxx="", "", Replace(....)) when data is null.

$

Using ssrs 2014 I have a cell in a tablix where I need to replace Chr(13) with VbCrLf to make the line breaks show.  All was good until the call received a null from the database.  I ran the select on the db to confirm it was returning null and not an empty string.

The original expression was this:

=First(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value).Replace(Chr(13),VbCrLf)

but the cell would show #ERROR when it received the null or empty value.

so then I tried this:

=IIF(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value = "", "", First(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value).Replace(Chr(13),VbCrLf))

and this:

=IIF(IsNothing(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value), "", First(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value).Replace(Chr(13),VbCrLf))

and this:

=IIF(IsNothing(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value) OR Fields!Id_Rationale.Value = "", "", First(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value).Replace(Chr(13),VbCrLf))

but if I run this I don't get the #ERROR

=IIF(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value = "", "empty string", "not empty string")

hmmm.  so I tried this

=IIF(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value = "", "empty string", First(Fields!Id_Rationale.Value).Replace(Chr(13),VbCrLf))

and got #ERROR again.

I'm puzzled. any idea how to make this work and not get #ERROR on empty values?

Thanks.

Issue with URL Encoding report's hyperlink value.

$

Hello,

I've created a hyperlink in a report.  The hyperlink action is 'Jump to URL'   The URL is http://ServerName/SomePage.aspx?AccountCode=####&InvoiceLevel=1

The hyperlink works just fine in the designer, it's value becomes http://ServerName/SomePage.aspx?AccountCode=%23%%23%%23%%23&InvoiceLevel=1, however when I run from the web the report's URL is not properly URL encoded.  It's value is http://ServerName/SomePage.aspx?AccountCode=#%23%23%23&InvoiceLevel=1 which is incorrect since the browser now treats the # as a hash.

I've tried explicitly URL Encoding the #### in the function but the report returns an error.  "http://ServerName/SomePage.aspx?AccountCode=" + System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlEncode(####) + "&InvoiceLevel=1"

I've tried it in RS2000 & RS2005, same results.

Linked Report / Linked KPI?

$

Just like creating a linked report on report manager, is there a way to create a "Linked KPI"?

I have created several KPIs for different departments and are placed in their own department's folder. However, there are KPIs that are common between departments and need to be shared.

Currently, I'm going through the pain of creating same KPIs in each department folder. This makes it worse when any changes are made. I have to go back and make those changes everywhere.

Any trick or workaround?
