I have a report that produces totals based on a offer. Within each offer a single user may have multiple rows. An example is below

Offer  User  Amount  Total

1        1       10         10

1        2         5         10

1        2         5         10

1        3       10         10

In the above example the sum for Total would be 40.00. What I want to do is to have the total for user 2, which has 2 rows, to only be added once so the total would be 30.

This is what I tried to do...

Sum(IIf(Fields!User.Value = Previous(Fields!User.Value), 0, Fields!Amount.Value))

But I receive an error that says "Previous functions cannot be specified as nested aggregates".

Does anyone know of another way to accomplish this? I've tried using variables but there are too many restrictions on those as well.

I first developed the SSRS report in Visual Studio 2013 and had no issues with parameter they mapped automatically.

I have now moved the SSRS report to Visual Studio 2015, and I'm having a problem with mapping parameters automatically.

So I have a dataset1 that has a SQL script with two parameters, these are linked in the Parameter setting of the Dataset.

However when I try to Preview the SSRS I get the following error.

"Query execution failed for dataset 'DataSet1'. Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."

I know how to fix it I have to create a Parameter Link to each Parameter in the SQL Script.

So for example I have a Parameter that is called :Year and is in my SQL Script three times, and I need to go to the parameter tab on my dataset and link the :Year to @Year three times in order they are in the SQL Script.

If this was a small report it would be OK. However this is a massive report that has several Parameters, 47 datasets and is across 6 report files.

I am after a way to get the automatically mapping of Parameters working again as it did in Visual Studio 2013. How do I do that?

I have a drill down report with 9 parameters which has Expand All/Collapse All as one of its parameter. On the initial rendering of the report,  I have a default selection of Expand All for the parameter which will expand the data for all the grouped rows . If I select Collapse All, the report collapses all the data and I can toggle the data manually. We have a sharepoint environment to display the reports for the users. 

This report is working fine in BIDS, Report Builder 3.0 and Sharepoint test environment. This report is working fine in the production Sharepoint environment when "Expand All" is selected from the Expand All/Collapse All parameter. We are getting the following error only in the production sharepoint environment when we select "Collapse All" from the parameter list or try to toggle on any of the grouped data in the rows.

Error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index

I checked the report from production environment in report builder and it is working fine with the same selection without throwing any error. Do we need to change any settings on the production sharepoint environment or can  I fix the issue by making changes to the RDL file?

I referred to many forums but could not find a solution to solve this problem. If anyone could please help me with this issue that would be really great and appreciated.

In a new test ssrs 2012 data driven subscription the report is executing correctly. However the following is appearing in the body of the email message sent to the user:

Sometimes when I enter parametr value and then press button to get report - report refresh's, my entered value cleared, and I need to enter again parametr value and press button to generate report.

On a test ssrs 2012 report server, I created a data driven subscription with a ssrs report that are email to various users. Now I want to accomplish the following goals:
1. Place this change on the production report server, and
2. Backup this change in TFS.

Thus for this change to occur, is there a way to 'copy' the test data driven subscription to production? If so, how would you accomplish this task? If not, does this need to be setup on the production report server from the 'start' again?

Can this be backed up in TFS? If so, can you tell me how to accomplish this goal?

In SSRS2016 i'm missing the details view. I need to delete 100+ reports . In ssrs2008 I use the details view, so I can select all the reports that I'd like to delete. But in 2016 it's not possible to do it that way. are there any plans to get this function back in 2016? and is there a work arround to delete multiple reports?

I am using SQL Server 2016 RC2 on an Azure VM, SSRS, and mobile reports.

I have created several mobile reports and tested them on my Windows 7 PC, IPad, and Android.

About the time RC3 was released, the Android Mobile app started rendering my mobile reports incorrectly e.g. they only show a couple of lines and are completely unusable.

The sample apps render fine and my custom reports render fine in the report builder and IPad mobile app.

I tried reinstalling my android app and recreating the reports, but nothing seems to make them work on the android mobile app.

Any ideas of what to try?

Hi,

I'm looking at the evaluation version of SQL 2016 reporting service and I can't see the option to create a line graph in the Mobile Report Publisher.  Am I missing something?  Also, it seems there are very few options to change/customize the reports (such as adding a trend line (of any kind) etc.

Are the Mobile Reports fairly static in regards to customization options or am I supposed to use a different tool to edit them?

All,

We have an issue with the data driven subscriptions created using SQL server 2005  in production.

Some of the subscriptions  have the status as "Pending" and failed to complete. How do we trouble shoot this status without any  error information.

Is there a logging mechanism for SSRS data-driven subscription catch these type of errors and log them to a file?

We noticed that when all the failed subscriptions were updated with "Run Once" option ,after each subscription was executed multiple times  , the subscriptions finally completed without any failure(I had to run each subscription 3 to 4 times before the subscription finally completed).  Recreating the subscriptions also caused the same pending status at random( i.e some subscription ran without fail while others didn't)

The pending status shows up without any pattern?

Does the network on which Report service is hosted have anything to do with this issue??I looked at the event logs,however i didn't find anything useful

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue will be highly appreciated ,since i have run out of ideas as i don't see any errors in the reporting service error logs.

I have SSRS 2008 R2 set up on a Windows Server 2008 SP2 server.

Everything works fine, with the exception of subscriptions with an attachment.  If the subscription is just a link, it works fine.  In reviewing the log files, I get the following error info:

When I review the KB article mentioned (link below), the top specifically says "NoteThis problem does not occur in Windows Server 2008"

Since I have it installed on a Windows Server 2008 box, and am experiencing this issue, is there something different that people know of for that version of Windows Server?

I am setting up a data driven subscription on sql server 2012 for the first time. I noticed in the 'comment' section you  can select either get values from the database or have a static value.

However, I would like to be able to have a static value and have 4 values obtained from the database placed within the 'comment'.

Thus is it possible to have a static value and embed 4 different values within the static message? If so, would you tell me how to accomplish this goal? If not, would you tell me and/or point me to urls that show how to only obtained 4 to 5 values from the database and place them onto the body of the email message?

I had a short experience with SQL Server Business Inteligence Development Studio with SQL Server 2008 R2. Now I installed Visual Studio 2015 Community and I can create a report without problem (Templates -> Business Intelligence -> Reporting Services). Just in the 'Design view' I see an area with a table where I can add columns and rows but I don't understand what is it?? I can design the report under that area but I don't understand for what is that table?

Please read this entire post before commenting.  I have been trying to get some kind of acknowledgement from Microsoft on this problem in other posts but finally just needed to make this known.  Mobile Report Publisher cannot connect to parameterized datasets if it's connected to an SSAS Tabular Model.

I keep getting half responses like "update to latest mobile reports publisher" or "specify a default parameter" but I'm telling you, the functionality is broken!

I have a dataset that is connected to an SSAS Tabular model.  The model works fine in MS Excel or in SQL Report Builder 2014.
I have created a dataset using Report Builder 2016 and added a parameter to it.  We need the parameter so the report can be filtered before it is rendered to the client.  For now, I am leaving the parmeter blank to fully demonstate the problem

The Operator Name is just a customer name.

When I try and connect the Mobile Report to this dataset, I get the following error:

I run the query and data is returned in the designer.

In an ssrs 2012 data driven subscription I have setup on a test area, the report is generating correctly. However part of the request is not to send out email messages if there is no data located.

Recently we've been having a recurring ASP.Net error where SSRS stops processing reports through the URL interface (i.e. accessing via a browser from another PC).  Subscriptions continue working however.  Restarting SSRS on the system fixes the situation until about another 8hrs or so later it comes back.  The error message is usually one of the following as seen in the SSRS logs.

System Setup:

• Windows Server 2012R2 with SQL Server Standard 2012 w/ SP3 and SP3-CU1 installed running in Native Mode for reporting services and a single default instance

We've tried the following without resolution:

• applied all relevant SQL and system patches
• Repaired the SQL Server installation via Programs and Features
• Reinstalled/Repaired .Net Framework 4.5.2
• Deleted and recreated the encrypted content in SSRS
• Reapplied the domain service account under which SSRS is running
• Given the SQL service account local OS admin rights (not ideal but I was grasping for solutions at this point).  Typically this user has minimum OS rights per MS recommendations of running SQL under a service account.

The only fix currently is a restart of SSRS which I have created a task scheduler item to watch for the following ASP.Net error in the OS Application Log.  When this occurs I execute a PowerShell script to force the restart of SSRS.

Hi we run 2012 enterprise. I want a report that will be a drilled thru report from its parent but also reachable directly with all the same parms (that would be passed) available for choosing by the user.

Are there any development differences for a subreport if it is to serve both purposes, ie as a subreport and reachable directly from rm?

the database stores 3 types 

2 for active

0,1 for non active

what is the cleanest way to pass 0,1 using my SSRS parameter .

I have tried below but it doesn't work ..I read about writing split function and passing string value ..but want to know if there any easier and short way to do that ..also as this parameter has to be single value parameter
