How to seperate the Solution Explorer and Properties windows into 2 views simultaneously?

I know this is a pretty basic question but I am trying to correct my BIDS environment.  Here is how it appear right now.  So these two views appear as one on top of the other.  How can I fix this though so that I have the Solution Explorer above and the Properties window below?  I want each of these windows adjacent to each other and not overlapping.  Make sense?

I have a very basic matrix report that I want to create to display inventory usage by month.

I would like the report to show some basic inventory product information and then the monthly usage beneath.

The only way I have been able to accomplish this is to place a table on the report with a Dataset that points to the inventory information  and then place a subreport in the detail section that uses a matrix to display the usage information. This works, but the overhead is horrendous. A report with 25 SKUs takes almost 2 minutes to generate when subreports are used.

Any suggestions as to how could accomplish my desired result without having to use a subreport.

Hi all,

I have two parameters @start and @end where I want @start parameter to be a calender view and be able to select any date which is < than 15 days from today.

I mean I want user to select any of the following dates only and not able to select other dates.

21,20,19,18,17,16,15,14,13,12,11,10,9,8 (I want that to select any one of the date in this list)

which is less than 15 days from today.

How to get proper currency symbol for column with prices in varying currencies?

Hi all,

I have a report showing a list of prices. There are two columns: a numerical value in one, and a currency code in the other (USD, EUR, etc.). These may vary row-by-row.

Is there a standard way to display the numerical value with the appropriate currency symbol?

Users cannot browse for shared data sources for reports

Hi,

In our TFS 2008 SP1 installation with Reporting Services 2005, we experience that users in projects cannot browse for shared data sources for their reports.

Checking the security settings for the "Home" folder shows that "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users" (as expected) has the "Browser" role assigned.

The shared data sources TfsReportDS and TfsOlapReportDS are present in the folder (I can browse them with my "Content Manager" role) and security settings for the data sources are inherited from the parent folder (as expected)

But when a user tries to browse for the data sources, all project folders are shown, but no datasources!?

When entering the "Data sources" property on the reports in the team project, the error message "The shared data source reference is no longer valid" is shown after the browse button. That goes for all existing reports, but when executing the reports they are shown as expected.

If a user tries to manually enter "\TfsReportDS" as the shared data source, the message "The permissions granted to user xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)". But shouldn't the "Browse" role be enough for this?

To my knowledge nothing has been changed on the server, but I'm open for suggestions...

Difficulty With Drill-Down Reports

Greetings, All -

I'm tasked with designing a report to replace one that uses a SQL query in SQL Server to gather the data with the result C&P'd into a premade Excel sheet using a pivot table to create the final product.

Well, not so much tasked as endeavoring to create something less clunky using SSRS.

I have the query made and it returns what I need. I've made that into a stored procedure called in a dataset in SSRS. It all works fine and produces the exact same content - although, I'm still working on a way to sort where the alpha entries appear before the numeric - as the Excel version.

Now, it needs to be turned into a drill-down report. I've tried a couple of tutorials I've found online, but they seem to add additional columns - headers - that make the report burdensomely wide. The Excel copy simply has a small '+' next to each category that can be drilled, like so;

The SSRS Tablix looks like this;

I guess the question is, how can I get the Tablix to drill-down on each of the Period, Date, Desc, Proc, and the first two Diagnoses without having to add a new header column for each one?

Probably, if someone could just let me know how to do one of them, I can probably just apply what I learn from that to the others on my own.

table driven logos and matrix coloring? help!

Hi gents and ladies,

Problem 1: 40-50 reports are created with one logo, then the president of the company says all reports should have a different logo (or a copywrite image, etc). How do I avoid going through each report and changing the logo? Ideally I would like to make a change in one place and have the logo's/copywrite images change in all reports.

Problem 2: All matrixes in all reports are using one color style that matches the comapny logo. The president decides to change the logo and its colors, and all matrix coloring in every report should be updated to reflect the coloring of the new logo! How would this be achieved? 

Can anyone point me to some resources or tutorials on how I might solve these two problems? Or perhaps someone here has done this before?

Sharepoint 2007 Install

I am trying to run rsSharepoint_x64.msi on my sharepoint 2007 server that works with a sql2008r2 instance on another box. I am logged in the the account I used as the Sharepoing setup account.  This account is in the local administrators group. The account also had dbcreater and securityadmin roles in sql, I now added sysadmin. The install terminates with this error in the event logs

Insufficient SQL database permissions for user '' in database 'SharePoint_Config' on SQL Server instance 'fcm-hvsrv2012-0'. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.

followed by a whole series of similar errors:

Insufficient SQL database permissions for user 'SYSTEM' in database 'SharePoint_AdminContent_653e4ea2-3dce-49f5-ab77-f2b758897b1e' on SQL Server instance 'fcm-hvsrv2012-0'. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below

What account is this install trying to use?  What would cause this error?

Issue while configuring the report server to run under a domain account.

I am getting issue while configuring report in integrated mode! The issue and the solution to that is as mentioned  here.

I tried to set the Report Server Service account to Use Another Accountbut when i try to apply i get the issue as below.

Microsoft.ReportingServices.WmiProvider.WMIProviderException: An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800708AC

'System.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib... failed

My VB.net 2010 project is running under .net framework 2.0. It has reportviewer control displaying rdlc report (local report).

The references of the reports included in the project are Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dlland Microsoft.ReportViewer.WinForms.dll. There is no proplem running the program in my computer.

When the excutable file of the project plus the  the references were save on another machine, the program runs ok except when displaying the report with the reportviewer. The exception indicates theMicrosoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll is missing.

I then copy the  file  Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dllto the same directory of the excutable file. When displaying the report, is still give exception. This time the exeption is differnet.
The excepiton is not shown in the excepiton window but at the reportviewer control.

The exception reads like this:

An error occured during local report processing.
Failed to load expression host assembly.
Details: Request for the permission of type 'System.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib,
Version-2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKey Token=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

What can go wrong here? I copied the Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dllto the program directory. Is it the right  way to sovle the missing dll file problem?

Report Viewer issues with Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 64-bit

Our ASP.NET Web Application uses the Report Viewer 2008 print control.  As folks upgraded to Windows 7 we quickly learned that Internet Explorer 9 64-bit would not allow the ActiveX control to work properly.  Our solution, which was fine, was to have folks run the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.

Obviously now most new computers are coming with Windows 8 (64-bit) and Internet Explorer 10.  Any of our users that are on 64-bit Windows 8 cannot print at all.

I tried upgrading to the Report Viewer 2010 control hoping that this would fix it, and have not had any success.  We seems to be able to get by in 32-bit Windows 8 by un-checking protected mode in Internet Explorer.

I'm hoping to find out which version, if any, is officially supported with this configuration x64 Windows 8 with IE 10?  

Here's our SQL Server 2008 version information:

10.0.2531.0SP1Enterprise Edition (64-bit)

Any help would be great!


Incorrect Positioning?

Custom DLL in Shared Dataset

Hey all, how would I use a custom DLL in a shared dataset? I am migrating datasets over to shared datasets, and one of these has a parameter which references a DLL assembly.

On a non-shared dataset, I am able to add the assembly in to References, and give it a name, but this looks missing when creating a shared dataset in Report Builder 3.

How to assign a group of users under a domain name to Security?

Hi guys.

I've been searching for solution from the internet, unfortunately there is none that works for me.

I needed to grand 'Browser' access to all users in the company, all users are under 'COMPANY' domain name.

I had tried to do this but the users still received insufficient permission message.

Please help and thanks in advanced.

Hi,

I have a report with a dataset and the results grouped by type, a different table for each type. I have one summary table where I need to display 2 rows from other tables, so basically I need to display two result rows twice in the same report. How could I do that? I'm using SSRS 2008R2.

Hello,

I have a table with say two coulmns : Keyword and Count.

Now based on the count, I want to create a tag cloud or a word cloud of the keywords. 

I do not have Sharepoint or Performance point. 

Is it possible to do this in SSRS? Or, can i embed something other app into my SSRS reports?

RDLC Showing Totals of Previous Pages At Header

Hi,

I have a sql statement that gets the price and names of products in receipts. More than one product may be bought in a single receipt. I created a table to select all the receipts. I need to get monthly total, daily total and grand total of all receipts and also the sum of a single receipt. I added three groups to the table; for one total of receipt, one for daily total, one for monthly total (from inner to outside).  

so my reports looks like this


receipt 1           01.01.2013

product1           10$

product2           20$

product3           30$

receipt total      60$

receipt 2           01.01.2013

product1           11$

product2           22$

product3           33$

receipt total      66$

Daily Total        126$

receipt 3           02.01.2013

Numbers of receipts in a page is not constant, even if a receipt has too many products, its rows may be splitted into several pages.

My reports works fine. But I should print in the header, the sum from first record till the last record in the last page. 

I've read the thread,

But it does not work. When i write down the code (Last(ReportItems!textbox12.Value)) in the header, even if it is supposed to add till the last record in the last page but it adds the values in the current page!

i can do it for a single cell using VB code like this below
