In an existing ssrs 2010 report , I will like to create multiple groupings within the report so the report will print on different pages. The multiple groupings would come from 1 (one) column that is contained within a sql server database where the field is defined as varchar(max). ALL THE information listed below would be in ONE ROW. The data will not be split among several rows in a database. All the data will be in ONE varchar(MAX) column in one row.
I would like the groupings to be based upon specific literals. However I do not know how to create multiple groupings based on different parts of the same sql server 2010 column containing different literals.
In the example I am showing you, I would like to create a page break where the literal <span id="END_PAGE"></span>. is located. The literal could be anything.
I am just using the literal <span id="END_PAGE"></span> so you can show me and/or point me to links that will tell me how to accomplish my goal of page breaks? Would I somehow be able to use some page break property like disable
or one of the other properties?

Recreation Steps:
Create a Mobile BI Report with a time navigator control.
Publish report to SSRS server.
Open the report in Safari on an IPhone device (version 4 and up appear to have the issue)
The time navigator grows and shrinks and is always adjusting in size on the device.
Using SQL Server 2016 with CU3 applied. SP1 has not been applied yet.
Issues does not occur when using the Power BI application on the phone and does not occur in Chrome browser on Android devices.
This is a critical issue for us as we have a client project where we are embedding mobile BI dashboards into an IFrame in a custom application. We have the exact same issue there as when you navigate to the dashboard directly with a browser on the IPhone.
Recreation Steps:
Create a mobile BI report that is narrow and tall.
Publish the report to SSRS
Open the report on a Android or IPhone device in the support browser (Chrome / Safari respectively)
Note: You can not scroll the dashboard as you cannot accurately select the dashboard -vs- the window frame to move the dashboard up and down. You cannot use / see the lower sections of the dashboard.
Currently on SQL 2016 CU3 (SP1 has not been applied yet)
Hi All, fairly new to Report Builder and have a question. I'm trying to apply an expression to a report field based on returned values using an IN operator.
Basically if the field returns any 1 of 5 specific codes I want to color the background green. The expression I am trying to use is:
=IIF(Fields!BillICDCode1.Value IN ("E78.0","E78.00","N40.1","R97.2","R31.2"), "Lime Green","No Color")
This expression fails each time to generate, any suggestions on one would write this expression?
Thanks!
Dear All,
Please advice me how to disable an export pdf option in .Net Reprot Viewer programmed in SharePoint Application page?
The report is running under SharePoint integration mode, and processingmode of the report viewer control is "remote"
I tried to edit the reportserver.conifg but doesn't work.
And applied following code has no affect too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
foreach (RenderingExtension extension in ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ListRenderingExtensions())
{
if (extension.Name == "PDF")
{
System.Reflection.FieldInfo info = extension.GetType().GetField("m_isVisible", System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Instance | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic);
info.SetValue(extension, false);
}
}

Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I'm using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition, which I understand supports Data-driven subscriptions (DDS).
When I try and click on on the DDS button for a report I get the following message:
"Data-driven subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored, the report is using user-defined parameter values, or if a linked report, the link is no longer valid."
1. I have set the data source to use stored credentials.
2. I'm using one simple string parameter
3. Its not a linked report
Any ideas?
regards,
avner
Hello. I am brand new to SSRS/Visual Studio and am trying to filter a dataset field that is Not Like a value with a wildcard in the Dataset Properties-Filters area. I can easily get the Like expression but I want the comparable Not Like expression to exclude the following names from my report, but there isn't a Not Like operator:
Expression: PtLastName
Operator: Like
Value: TEST*
I want to EXCLUDE the following last names in my report: TEST, TEST9, TEST142
I have my varchar field as "rtrim(dbo.PT.lst_nm) AS PtLastName" in the dataset.
I have two SQL SERVER (SSRS 2012) reports. I have created a hyper link from the parent report to a child report that is filtered to the @StartDate, @TraceID.This works fine. In Child report I am not able to change the values of the parameters, its taking the values which are coming from the parent report.
Parent report has two parameters as @StartDate and @EndDate
Child report has 2 parameters as@StartDate, @TraceID, all the 2 parameters are cascading parameters.
This feature is working fine in SSRS 2008 but it’s not working in SSRS 2012.
Please help me to fix this bug. Thanks in advance
Venkat
Hi everyone,
I am trying to develop an SSRS project that will publish weekly performance of sales. However I got stuck at some point which I have to take average of particular weeks.
On the Sql Server side and SSRS side, my data columns are as follows.
[Region] [Week] [Sale Amount] [Revenue]
North America 50 100 $300
Far East 49 500 $1900
There is 7-week data of every region, i.e 44,45,46,47,48,49,50. According to our calculation, we take a performance average with respect to week 49 like,
Region (Week Revenue/Sale Amount)-(average of preceding 5 weeks), namely I have to take the average of the weeks 44,45,46,47,48.
However I was not able to develop such a formulation, except general avg() formula. Could anybody help me?
I have come across a problem with reporting from SQL Server databases using SSRS, that I wonder if you could help me with.
When you have a huge amount of data in a table, and you want to select only those rows within a certain criteria, and you want to allow the users to specify that criteria (for example, it might be a start date and end date), and you then want to take that data (within the criteria) and perform a ton of other transformations on it, including producing various temporary result sets along the way (using CTEs or Table Variables or Temp tables) to finally produce the report, this basically takes ages in SQL. You can do it, but your users might have to wait an hour or two from the moment they've hit View Report, to their report being rendered.
I don't know much about MDX or DAX, cubes or tabular models, but I wonder if there is a quicker way to do what I want. Note the important aspect of the problem: the user is specifying a criteria that has to go all the way back to the original table, and then various transformations (including temp result sets) have to be applied to produce the final report.
What is the best way to do this? Am I doing it the only way possible? I know it's a broad question, but I'd like to know, theoretically, what the answer is. Where should I be looking? Should I be looking at Cubes? Tabular Models? Should I be using R in SQL Server?
Hi all
After installing SSRS 2016 (Version 13.0.4001.0) as an inplace upgrade "over" an existing SSRS 2012 + Service Pack 3, I notice the \ReportManager folder no longer exists.
All I have in MSRS13.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\
\LogFiles
\ReportServer
\RSTempFiles
\RSWebApp
sql_rs_keyfile.dll
ThirdPartyNotices.txt
Can anyone else confirm if this folder is no longer present / relevant in 2016 version? The reason I ask is that previously we had to add lines to web.config file in..
MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportManager\web.config
Such as:
<appSettings>
..
<add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="10000" />
..
</appSettings>
And also tweak the ReportingServices.js file in
MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportManager\JS
There is nothing clear I could find on the MS site to confirm if this folder / web.config is still relevant
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Andy
Hi there,
I´m new to SSRS, I'm coming from Cognos BI world, and I cant do some simple tasks in SSRS that I could do in Cognos.
How can I delete multiple reports from a Folder? Suppose I have 40 reports in my folder, and I don't want to delete one by one, can I select multiple reports and delete them?
I have read in some posts that using SCCM you can achieve this, but I was wondering if there is a way to do it via SSRS.
Thanks!
For SQL 2016 RTM, in both Report Builder and Report Designer, I can add a matrix using the wizard that has 3 levels on each axis. Product into Subcategory into Category on Rows and City into State into Country on Columns with Sales Amount in the data section. If I try to do this from scratch in a blank report, when I add the 3rd group (Category - in the example above), I get "Undocumented error." In the details it states "The RDL structure of the tablix named 'Tablix1' is invalid. I tried it on 2 different computers. Also, I created one successfully with the wizard, deleted the Category group and received the same exact error when I tried to put it back in.
I opened a Connect item for this, but that may take a while and I need to know now if this is just me, a new "Feature" in SQL 2016, or something else.
I'm trying to recreate a report that I used for a demonstration in 2008R2, 2012, and 2014 and I never had this problem before.
Query I used for one of my datasets: SELECT DimGeography.City, DimGeography.StateProvinceName, DimGeography.EnglishCountryRegionName, DimProduct.EnglishProductName AS Product, DimProductCategory.EnglishProductCategoryName AS Category, DimProductSubcategory.EnglishProductSubcategoryName AS Subcategory, FactInternetSales.SalesAmount FROM DimProductSubcategory INNER JOIN DimProduct ON DimProductSubcategory.ProductSubcategoryKey = DimProduct.ProductSubcategoryKey INNER JOIN DimProductCategory ON DimProductSubcategory.ProductCategoryKey = DimProductCategory.ProductCategoryKey INNER JOIN FactInternetSales ON DimProduct.ProductKey = FactInternetSales.ProductKey INNER JOIN DimCustomer INNER JOIN DimGeography ON DimCustomer.GeographyKey = DimGeography.GeographyKey ON FactInternetSales.CustomerKey = DimCustomer.CustomerKey

Hi Pirlo,
Thanks for your prompt response!
I could do a workaround by calling an existing report through URL as a pop-up. In order to do that I need to use built-in global variable, "Globals!ReportServerURL"; but it returned an empty string. To be exact, the expression I put in the textbox is as follows,
="It is" & Globals!ReportFolder & Globals!ReportName & Globals!ExecutionTime & "URL: " & Globals!ReportServerUrl
The report name and ExecutionTime are returned as expected. As I mentioned earlier, I have MSSQL 2008R2.
Thank you again!
Marilyn
Hiiiii..

Hi
I've been testing SSRS 2016 and the export to PowerPoint functionality. Is there any way to change the default slide size? It defaults to 16:9 but I would like it to be 4:3 which better suits printing the presentation.
Is there any way to also implement a design theme on the presentation?
Thanks in advance!
