SSRS Use the text field only in a specific value the parameter

$

I have a report in ssrs
When run the report, i use the parameter: STATUS and the value of the parameter: successfully, in process, lost.
The report contains a text field, the text field uses the expression to hide the element: =IIF(NOT IsNothing(Fields!filepath.Value), True, False)

If the text field becomes visible from the expression (=IIF(NOT IsNothing(Fields!filepath.Value), True, False))  I want to see the text field only when I select report parameter values "in process".
this can be done?

ssrs 2012 place background image on a report

On a new ssrs 2012 report, I am told by the print shop that they cannot put a background image on paper before the ssrs report is executed.
I am also told that I need to place 'standard wording' on the back side of the paer,
They want me to place a background image on the paper. They also want me to then display student infromation on top of that back ground image.
Thus I am trying to determine how to accomplish this request.
If there some kind of picture image that I can place on the paer as the student information is printed? If so, what format would that picture image be in like jpeg?
If that is not possible, would I need to have 1 ssrs written to just place the background image on the paper and another ssrs report to actually placethe student information on the paper?
Also for the 'standard wording' that needs to appear on the back side of the paper would I need a third ssrs 2012 report?
Thus can you tell me how to meet the requirements that I have?

ReportBuilder 2016 login

If I remember correctly, the first time I ran ReportBuilder it asked for a login, and I made the mistake of setting it to remember the password. I need to test ReportBuilder running under different user accounts, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how. Uninstalling ReportBuilder has no effect. I tried wiping out user.config and clearing recent items per This Thread, but that didn't help, and from the last two replies in that thread, I'm not the only one who couldn't make anything work.

Am I imagining things here? It did prompt me for a login the first time right? It seems almost impossible to use this as a different user now. What am I missing.

Report builder installation fails

I downloaded the SQL Report Builder for 2014 and tried to install in it.
Tested on Win8 x64 and Win7 x64, but it keeps failing on the last moment.
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this installation to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

In Appdata\Local\Temp I found a textfile with only this as content:

Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this installation to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action RSRB_CAPersistServerUrl_32, entry: PersistServerURL, library: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI463F.tmp
=== Logging stopped: 6-7-2016  09:51:57 ===

I haven't found any message in the Eventviewer which mentioned what might be going wrong.
Could somebody please point me into the direction I have to look in order to find out what is going wrong?

Both the Win7 and Win8 machine have .NET 4.5
Ran installer 'As Administrator'
Downloaded the installer separately on both machines.
Also tried the SP1 version of the Report Builder, but that gave the same error.
Report Builder for SQL 2008 R2 did install, but didn't connect to the SQL 2014 that we are using.

SSRS 2017 Scale-Out Deployment is missing?

Hi all...

I am trying to setup a basic scale-out deployment of SSRS 2017. But the scale-out deployment menu option is missing.

Is there documentation on Scale-Out deployments using SSRS 2017? Are scale-out deployments still supported in SSRS 2017?

Thanks in Advance!!

Printing from shared data source hangs while in Visual studio; but prints from SSRS server

Conditions:

  1. Visual Studio (VS) ver 15, professional.  Ver 14.0.2.25431.01 Update 3  << recently updated.
  2. SQL SErver Data Tools 14.0.61712.050   << Recently updated.
  3. Very simple report select top 10 from table. Data source is SQL Server.  Start as embedded.  Report runs (preview mode). Report prints (from Preview mode), selecting the 'print' icon.
  4. Convert to Shared data source.  Report runs (preview mode).  Report does NOT print.  (Little 'print' window shows up, indicating printing "Page 1 of Report1").  Checking print queue...the status is spooling.  This never goes away, til I kill the task.
  5. Close/reopen VS.  Add internal data source. Change dataset to point to embedded datasource.  Run rpt. Choose 'Print'.  Report does NOT print. (!)
  6. Kill/reopen VS.  Delete shared data source. (this just leaves the embedded datasource).  Run rpt. chose 'Print'.  Report DOES indeed print. :)
  7. Create a shared data source (trying both windows perms and SQL authentication)... Rpt runs in both cases, Print hangs as usual.
  8. kill/reopen VS.  Deploy to SSRS server.  Run rpt (it runs).  Click printer icon... Report PRINTS! :)
  9. Preview mode the report in VS.  select Print icon (in visual studio)...Report print hangs.
  10. Kill VS, open notepad print (any file) to printer, so yes, if VS is not locking the printer, it prints fine.

Question: I used to be able to print SSRS reports from within Visual Studio when using shared data sources. Now this fails, as per notes above.  What do I need to do to re-enable share data source printing from within Visual studio?

Problems with font definition in SSRS 2017 reports

Hi

I've just upgraded from 2012 to 2017 and I think I might have something wrong with the install/config.  Either that or I'm being a bit thick!

For some reason, the font on new reports is not being defined and the data returned is invisible.

It is possible to fix this by changing the font from Arial to something else (and then changing it back again, if required) at which point the font becomes visible.

Furthermore, on examination of the reports XML, there appears to be no mention of the font definition.

Once modified, I found that the XML has been updated to include the following:

<Style>

<FontFamily>Arial</FontFamily>

</Style>

Anyone have any experience of this problem and a solution?

Thanks

Display Dataset field Value in the footer based on the Group

Hi Guys,

My current SSRS report is displaying multiple projects data. One Project data is rendering into 1 or 2 pages based on the project specific data.

Now, the requirement here is to display the "ProjectName" in the footer of the SSRS report in below format. For instance, if project A data is rendering in 2 pages then the footer in two pages should display project Name A and in the third page it shows display the Project Name b in the footer of the report.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ProjectName [Insert Reporting Month]                                                                                                Page # of #

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone come across such requirement. Thanks.

In an ssrs 2012 new report that I can setting up, I need to print 10 activity labels on one side of the paper. On the other side of the paper, I need to print a standard message on each of the 10 activity labels. Due to these facts, I have the following additional questions to ask you:

1. How can I print the front side of the activity labels on the front of the paper and print a standard message on the back side of the same paper? Basically the front side of the paper will look one way and the back side of the paper will look another way.

2. How can I print a standard message on the back side of each of the 10 activity labels?

Listed below is an example of how the front side of the activity labels will look like

It should display (25,000). Currently the only way i can get it to display brackets around the value, is by choosing format C0 or C2 - being currency, however, they do not want the currency symbol.

SSRS 2016 - Failure sending mail: The operation has timed out.Mail will not be resent.

Hello,

I am constantly getting the following error when sending out email subscriptions (data driven)

I don't think it's the report timing out as it runs fine for file share subscription without any errors.. Only about 60 - 70 emails are generated at any one time and more than 75% fail with the above error.. yet I have the same report doing over 400 for file share and they all work fine. (0 errors)

I've looked at report server settings and increased the session timeout value etc.. but hasn't made any difference..

I'm using SSRS 2016 (64 Bit) Enterprise on Windows Server 2012 R2 (64 bit)

I can't seem to find any sort of definitive pointers online.. any help would be appreciated

Footer repeats on page 1 & 2 of 3 (only want it on page 1)

I have a footer that keeps repeating on the second page when I have selected in footer properties to only display 'print on first page'. When I run the report locally on my desktop, in report view each page is separated out pg 1, 2 and 3. However when it is published and I view it with IE. I can see that pg. 1 & 2 runs together for viewing, however if I export it to PDF, it splits it to pg 1, 2 and 3. I'm at a loss as what to do as there is no information specifically for footers and 'RepeatOnNewPageproperty to setting it to false' - FOR footers.

How to enable ADFS authentication

HI - We are looking to enable the ADFS authentication for our SSRS reports. We have few SSRS 2012 reports integrated to SharePoint mode and few running in SSRS 2016 native mode.  I have gone through few online articles and but could not find start-to-end steps to enable ADFS authentication.  Could someone please provide me the steps to enable ADFS authentication and who all the stakeholders(Network team, DBA team, etc.) do I need to involve in this process.

Thanks,

HTML with in IIF

$

I have created a text box with the desire to have my report return a PageName or a HTML text with background color.

Text Box Expression:
=iif( IsNothing(ReportItems!DetailWtPL.Value),"*" + str(Globals!PageName) + "*","<font color = 'black' size = '1'>" + "Packing List"+ "</font>"+"</p>")

The problem here is that when the iif condition points towards the html portion, the report shows all of the text inside the quotes.  I am expecting the term 'Packing List'.  When I strip out the iif statement and just run the html portion it works so I don't think that my html code is off base.... but inside the IIF is certainly not working.

Any suggestions as to how to get this syntax working properly?  Also, how would I add some code to change the background color? The attached pix shows my current result and the result that I'm aiming for.

SSRS preview error - "an attempt has been made to use data extension"

Hi,

I've recently updated VS to Visual Studio 2017 and now I'm facing problems with my reports (Reporting Services). Every time I want to preview my report I receive this error : "An attempt has been made to use data extension ORACLE that is either not registered for this report server or is not supported in this edition of reporting services".

I've searched online and tried various solutions, mostly everybody is suggesting to download ODAC from ODP.NET (Oracle developer tools for Visual Studio) that should solve problem, but not in my case. I tried different ODAC versions, but still same error....

Here are my installations:

- Visual Studio 2017

- SQL Server Data Tools, release 15.7.1

- ODAC for Visual studio 2017 , version 12.2.0.1.1

 - Oracle version 11.2.0.4

Has anybody an idea on how to solve this ?

SOLVED: MSBuild failing with report projects

Hi all,

So I'm trying to use the snazzy new support for building .rptproj files via MSBuild described here:

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlrsteamblog/2017/09/25/msbuild-support-for-reporting-services-projects-now-available/

I installed Reporting Services Projects for Visual Studio 2017 as described in the above post, but when attempting to run MSBuild on a reporting services project file (which builds fine in Visual Studio) I get the following error (regardless of the target specified):

-----

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Professional\MSBuild\Reporting
 Services\Microsoft.ReportingServices.MSBuilder.targets(30,5): error MSB4062: The

an incorrect format. Confirm that the <UsingTask> declaration is correct, that the
assembly and all its dependencies are available, and that the task contains a pub
lic class that implements Microsoft.Build.Framework.ITask.

-----

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Professional\MSBuild\Reporting Services\Microsoft.ReportingServices.BuildProcess.dll" does exist and has an SHA-1 hash of 0c73c623f455a5394e26b091bf5eb61d485ad89b.  MSBuild reports its version as 15.3.409.57025 and Visual Studio is at 15.3.5 should it matter.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Reporting Services Projects extension but the issue persists.  Did I miss a step somewhere or is something truly amiss?

ssrs 2012 report be setup like mailing lables

In a new ssrs 2012 report, I need to write a report that is written like mailing labels. Basically I need to generate activity cards for a large school district.
I  would like to know how to get unique information for each of the 10 students on the 10 different activity cards. The activity cards are to be able to fit in
a student's wallet. ‌
The requirements are the following requirements:
1‌. Print 10 activity cards per 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper.
2‌. There will be 2 columns and 5 rows per sheet of paper.
3. Just for your information, the activity cards will list the following:
    a‌. student name and number,
    b. student address,
    c.. school name and address,
    d. grade level.
Thus can you tell me how to generate unique information for 10 students  that are generated like mailing labels?
