Grouping by type MATRIX or Table by last 3 digits

Hello I need help to put this in a matrix I do have the query bringing the listed I need align the expense and revenue with the last 3 digit if the object so I can relate this expense with revenue

Expense 010218 goes with 542218.

ssrs 2014new install, report manager toolbar squashed over left

Hi All

I've added ssrs to our dev install of sql server 2014 std. The issue is that the report manager toolbar is squashed over the left hand side of any / every browser screen.

That is to say "Details View" (that I normally look for over the right) is only about a third of the way across the screen from the left. This is the same on the dev server (where its installed), and on my laptop. Also the same on IE and Chrome.

any ideas ?

one subscription being sent multiple times

And this is not an isolated incident. Recently 2 reports with subscriptions have recently done this. 1 has been updated 2x with emails - that one is being tripled. another is being duplicated each day.

SSRS 2017 Performance Counters

So, my installation of SSRS is missing its performance counters for the Service.

I've tried to work with the instructions here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1916.how-to-rebuild-the-report-server-performance-counters-ssrs.aspx

I am getting a problem re-adding the library though:

Microsoft Power BI drillthrough from one table report to another (each uses different datasets)

I am fairly new to Power BI reporting. My question may be somewhat pedestrian. I have this situation below:

I have a Category report in a table in Page 1 of Power BI desktop; this Category report is developed
from Categories dataset.

I have a Product report in a table in Page 2 of Power BI desktop; this Product report is developed
from Products dataset.


The Category dataset and Product dataset have a M:1 relationship using CategoryID column, from the 
Products table to the Categories table (see diagram attached).



I set the drill through properties in  Page 2,  using the CategoryID column (see diagram).


However, when I go to Page 1, and right click a CategoryID value (say 1), I am not able to see the
Drillthrough option to navigate from Page 1 to Page 2 !

Am I wrong somewhere ? Even after watching many videos and reading many forums, I have been struggling with this for over a day. Please let me know.

CacheDataForPreview in RSReportDesigner.Config not honored

I'm using SQL 2008 Developer and Visual Studio 2008. In my RSReportDesigner.Config file (under C:\Program Files/Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0/Common7/IDE/PrivateAssemblies) I see the following entry:

AddKey="CacheDataForPreview"Value="false" />

Yet when I preview a report in Visual Studio, it still generates a <report name>.rdl.data file

How do I STOP Visual Studio from caching data results from report previewing?

Seems to be a BUG if it is NOT honoring the above tag in the config file!

A better Milestone chart is possible ?

Hi everyone,

I have developed a Milestone Chart based on a Project Server Database, exactly based on Task view "MSP_EpmTask_Userview.

We have created a custom field on the task table to mark if a Task must be shown as a Milestone on the Chart or not (not all tasks with 0d as duration).

I wanted to show something like this:



After Developping, I have some "Ugly" Result like this :

The chart type is a Range Bar and each project is represented with a simple bar. The problem is that every Milestone create a new bar and draw the marker (rectangle) in a a new line, in the production we can have several Milestones for a single project and it will create multiples bars and this is really ugly!

How can we draw all the Milestones in a simple and one bar for each projet?

 have a requirement where I need to display 8 Hr to 20 Hours for Dayworkload and again 20 Hours to 8 for Nightworkload. I have added group by clause for Day and Night workloads but how can I set the horizontal axis to display these depending on the shift ?

X-Axis for DayLoad Min value 8 and Max 20  8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20

For Night Load Min 20 and Max 8   20,21,22,23,24,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

CSV export from SSRS gives a line break if there are two tables

I have a report with two tables. There is no gap between in the reports. The report looks good when I run it, but when I export the report to CSV, there is an extra line between the two tables. Can somebody help me fix this issue.

Use Tree Map in SSRS 2012

Hi

I created a tree Map in SSDT 2015, but I have only SSRS 2012

I received the following error.

SQL Server 2014 Reporting Services and earlier do not support treemaps. Either reduce the error level to a value less than 2 or change the TargetServerVersion to a version that supports treemaps

In this case.. How can I "reduce the error level to a value less than 2 " since I can't change the SSRS Version?

Need to Sort Week Days Legend From Monday - Sunday

I have a problem on my chart in rdlc. I pass a data containing the week days on it's right order (Monday, Tuesday, ...Sunday). But it ended up sorted in ascending order like this.

Friday

Monday

Saturday,

Sunday

Tuesday

Thursday

Wednesday

I don't want that to happen. I just wanted it to stay as default order.

Cascading SSRS parameters with circular references?

I’m trying to create a report on international properties in SSRS 2017. I want to filter on the property’s country code and type such as “office building”,  “shopping mall” etc. I’ve created a few parameters on the report to filter the results by building an SQL query string and executing that string to return the applicable properties. Two of the parameters our country and property code and both have default values. My issue is that I’m trying to filter the list of countries by property code so I don’t offer countries that don’t have that property code in them and also filter the property type codes by country code so only offer codes that are available the selected countries. The country code parameter precedes the property type parameter in the report. As soon as I add the property type parameter to the function that populates the country parameter I get an error even without attempting to use that value in the custom code. All I have to do is add it to the function definition and call and I start getting an error. I assume that the issue is that I’m trying to utilize the property type parameter to filter the country parameter before the property type parameter is available. If I reverse the order of the parameters then I start getting an error for the property type parameter instead of the country parameter.

Is there a way to work around this limitation? I started down the path of an optional parameter, but since I’m using parameter as the type, I can’t simply use a default in the function declaration (or if I can, I don’t see how). Something like function(ByVal Optional PropertyType AS Parameter = parameter.New())?

Creating a 4-D Range chart

I have created the range chart below in SSRS 2015 for 3 workers on one day. But now I want to be able to show the times per worker for other days of the week so that they are all plotted on the same chart.  How do I do this?

Alternatively, I have created a matrix to represent this same data, but that did not look as nice asthetically.  And I doubt that would work for 4 dimensions.

This is the SQL I used to create the dataset for above.

Split values in a row to column and new line

How can I split a string in a row into columns when it hit comma and new row when its hit semicolon. Ex: Table A has 2 columns, lock and key. Lock has 2 values (lock1, lock2), lock1 has value k1,k-1,k-one!k21,k-21,k-2one! . lock2 has value k2,k-2,k-two!k22,k-22,k-2two! I want to display two rows in detail section:

lock         Key

lock1       k1     k-1     k-one

              k21    k-21   k-2one

lock2       k2      k-2     k-two

              k22     k-22   k-2two

Also, the space between 3 columns in the "Key" must be equally. Is it possible to do it in ssrs or sql server stored procedure?

How to Pass a 'Null' DateTime Parameter to a SubReport

Hello,

Using SSRS 2008 R2

I have a main report and a sub-report. The main report has 2 parameters of datetime type called 'From' and 'To'. These are passed to a sub-report to get associated detail records that are related to the main report but only those that have a date field falling between the dates the user provides when running the main report. This part works fine. The problem is the need to be able to pass Null datetimes to the sub report.  I have the parameter options on both the main and sub-reports to accept null values for the datetime parameters.  If the user selects null on these parameters I want to be able to pass that Null to the sub-report . My dataset query looks for this and if they are null it should return all related records not just the ones that fall in a certain date range.

However, when I do this I get a 'One or more parameters were not specified for the subreport' ...

Is there some way I can send a Null datetime to the sub-report or something equivalent to that?

Unable to Integrate PowerBI with SSRS 2016

I am trying to get my new SSRS 2016 integrated with Power BI but unfortunately getting a message saying the following message. I can use the same account to sign in to Power BI and or the Azure portal just fine. What could be wrong?

How to write case statement considering the duplicates in below scenario?

Hi,

I am new to SSRS and part of a stored procedure, I am having some trouble so wanted to see if someone can help out. I have following Columns in SQL, MoneyStatus, BeginningBalance, EndingBalance and TransactionID.

So when i run the report, currently there is some duplication exist. So like I am seeing two rows of record for same TransactionId one with MoneyStatus as "Pending" and other with MoneyStatus as "Complete". This is fine but all I want to do is to write a case statement as below requirement:

1. When Specifically, there are duplicated TransactionID records found and if the MoneyStatus is Pending (only for the duplicated ones) then BeginningBalance is something |else BeginnginBalance is something

Can someone help me with the case statement for this, thanks in advance.
