Hide CSV columns conditionally in SSRS reoprt (RDL)

Hi friends,

I want to hide some columns in my report conditionally using an expression when report is exported to CSV format.  Column and textbox visibility setting works fine in PDF and Excel format but it is completely ignored in CSV format.  There is no way I can conditionally hide a column in CSV.  Google search and few articles suggest that this is by design behavior of SSRS and even Microsoft has confirmed that.  Please check following links.

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/f68c3dcb-4d3d-46ec-982e-c57ed2e4b64c/update-xml-and-csv-problem-in-ssrs-2008?referrer=http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/f68c3dcb-4d3d-46ec-982e-c57ed2e4b64c/update-xml-and-csv-problem-in-ssrs-2008?forum=sqlreportingservices

https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/431073/ssrs-programatically-controlling-the-dataelementoutput-property

https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/651316/ssrs-csv-xml-renderers-should-evaluate-hidden-expressions-for-dataelementoutput-auto

I would like to know when this will be fixed by Microsoft or whether there is any workaround.  Please let me know.

Murtaza

Report Viewer 15.0.0.0 Buttons Display as Letters

I've applied update to my application to change the Report Viewer control from version 9 (SSRS 2008) to ver. 15 (SSRS 2016), and our internal testing had everything working fine for all of our testers.

However, now that it's in production, several users are having the buttons show up with just letters like this:

At least one user has found that, if he opens IE with "Run as Administrator", he gets the buttons as expected.  I see that, when I go to the production page, the screen does show these letters for a moment before the button images appear, but I'm stumped as to what to do about it.

Has anyone run into this and offer suggestions for:

1. Any idea what the cause of the problem is that would make it occur for some users and not others?  Having trouble troubleshooting this effectively because I can't recreate the issue from any PC's I have access to.

2.  Obviously, any actual explanation/fix for this issue?

Hello all,

We have just deployed SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services, including the cumulative update to one of our UAT servers. Upon accessing the SSRS Web Portal and clickingNew > Data Source, we get the error "Something has gone wrong. Please try again later".

Is anyone able to assist me with getting to the bottom of this issue? Error log is below for reference.

Thank you in advance!

Tom.

SSRS subscription creating duplicate job

$

We have this sporadic problem where when we go in to save an edit on a SSRS report subscription, it gives us a duplicate job number error.  When I look at the Jobs in the Agent, there are duplicates, so I need to manually delete both duplicate jobs, then the subscription save will work.  If we delete just 1 of the jobs, the issue seems to clear for a while, but then reoccurs.  This has happened to us on multiple reports, but not consistently.  The subscriptions look fine.  Has anyone else run into this?  Any ideas what is causing this to happen?

Migrating SSRS 2014 to 2019

'm currently migrating a 2014 SQL Server to 2019. Currently, we have a 2014 server name MY_SQL_SERVER and 2019 with server name MY_SQL_SERVER_NEW. Eventually, this 2019 server will be renamed MY_SQL_SERVER and the 2014 will be decommissioned.

I restored the 2 reporting DBs into the new server and configured SSRS. It is up and running.

Some questions:

  • Best way to handle renaming the SQL Instance for SSRS?
  • How to migrate subscriptions?
  • Anything I may have missed.
  • Do I just delete the old one below?

TIA

Hello

I'm trying to set up a report template
I have copied the .rdl file that I will use as template on the predefined directoryD:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\ProjectItems\ReportProject but when I try to start a new report using this as template it does not appear on the Add new item screen. The only logical reason I can think of is that my Visual studio is setup on d: drive. Also there was no physical installation for Visual studio 2017 but rather for Visual studio 2015

Find below the basic info about Visual studio (Help About)

Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2017
Version 15.9.20

Hi All, I'm new to this SSRS reports. Currently I'm having a report which is using SSRS tablix to show the data.

I'm using below query to get the data and then I'm showing in the report.

SELECT DEPTNAME,ORGANIZATION,SUM(TOTALEMP) AS TOTALEMP FROM #TEMP
GROUP BY DEPTNAME, ORGANIZATION;

The report looks like this

But now I want to see the HR department data in 2 columns to show the data based on the gender. I'm using the below query to fetch the data.

SELECT DEPTNAME,  ORGANIZATION,SUM(TOTALEMP) AS TOTALEMP,GENDER FROM #TEMP
 GROUP BY DEPTNAME,  ORGANIZATION,GENDER;

So can someone help me to show the data looks like below?

Note: I tried to add the child group under department but it's adding the row above the HR department.

SSRS subscription is not visible but is still running.

I have SSRS integrated with SharePoint 2010.  I have a monthly subscription running on one of my reports, when I logged in last month to check on it, it seemed to have disappeared.  I was confused, but I recreated the subscription (as  best as I could remember).  This month, I get the report twice (with slightly different parameter settings). It looks like the old subscription is still running even though I cannot see it in SharePoint.

I logged into my SharePoint/RS SQL DB instance and ran this statement:

  DECLARE @myReportFileName varchar(50) = 'MyReport.rdl';
   SELECT
      c.Name
     ,u.UserName
     ,s.*
   FROM
     dbo.subscriptions s
     INNER JOIN [dbo].[Catalog] c ON s.Report_OID = c.ItemID
     LEFT JOIN dbo.Users u ON s.OwnerID = u.UserID
    WHERE
      c.Name LIKE @myReportFileName
   ;

I can see two rows in the subscriptions table, with the LastRunTime corresponding to the dates I received my reports.

Both subscriptions are in my name (OwnerID), but as I said before, only one appears in SharePoint under "Manage Subscriptions" for that report.

How can I access this hidden subscription.  If I cannot otherwise access this subscription, can I just delete the extra row from the Subscriptions table?

TIA

SSRS 2017 Something went wrong

$

Hi,

when trying to add, view or change data source(s) in SSRS 2017 I get popup saying "Something went wrong, please try later".

Setup os SSRS is as follows:

three SSRS instances behind KEMP load balancer. Communication from clients to KEMP is done over SSL (port 443) and from kemp to SSRS instances over HTTP (port 80). rsreportserver.config file has this tags on all three SSRS servers, where SSRS.domain.com points to the KEMP virtual IP (for client access).

<Hostname>SSRS.domain.com</Hostname>
<UrlRoot>https://SSRS.domain.com/reportserver</UrlRoot>

When I try to add, view or change data source(s) I get this error in RSPortal.log

ERROR: OData exception occurred: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 10.2.17.11:443
   at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress)
at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Exception& exception)
--- End of inner exception stack trace ---

10.2.17.11 is the IP of the one of SSRS instances buth what baffles me is why is connection trying to be made using port 443 (TLS) when KEMP is configured to communicate with SSRS instances over port 80.

SSRS instances don't have port 443 configured, only port 80.

Everything else works fine, only datasources are the problem.

SSRS version in question is 14.0.600.1109, native mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

Help with my expression in report builder

$

Hi guys!

Wonder I you could help, I new to expressions and trying to write a multiple condition expression. At the moment I have setup a percentage calculation for the summary of the data in the report (which works). It basically looks at the field 'sec' which is the total seconds for a call, the expression gives a summary of the percentage of calls that were under 60 seconds.

=formatpercent(SUM(IIf(Fields!sec.Value  <"60",1,0))/count(Fields!sec.Value),1)

Now I just want to add an extra parameter of the report for the field 'Origin_of_Call', so it does exactly what did before but only for records where the value of 'Origin_of_Call' = "Landline". I've tried a few different combination but the computer is saying no.

I'm sure this is probably straight forward but I'm a newbie.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
