Power View not seeing money

Hi,

I have an Excel Spreadsheet created by another department. This Spreadsheet has many currency/dollar columns on it.

I am using this spreadsheet as a datasource for a Power View Dashboard.

I take the Spreadsheet and highlight all the data and columns and create my Power Pivot, save and the Spreadsheet, then import into Power View. So far so good.

My problem is that some of the currency/dollar columns in POwer View aren't showing that way in POwerView. Some of the currency/dollar columns are showing that little symbol (don't know what that's called) and I'm able to use those values in charts. But some of the currency/dollar columns show up in POwer View as text and I can't use charts, etc.

I've checked the Spreadsheet and the formatting (number) is the same for the columns that are correct and the columns that aren't. I've tried changing the position, the format...can't think of anything else !

I'm stuck. I really want to be able to use the Spreadsheet as the datasource, makes for easy updating for my end users. But I need for these columns to show/import correctly in POwer View.

What else can I check?
