Drillthrough report – parameter to be supplied by hyperlink name from parent/main report

I have two reports

  1. Health Providers List– gives a list of all health providers
  2. Health Provider Details– gives details about each health provider from the Health Providers List and has a multi-valued parameter called @healthprovidername.

Health Provider Details is a drillthrough report which I will call child report in this question. I would like this report to precisely open with details of theHealth Provider Name which a user selects from the hyperlink in the main report (Health Providers List). I don’t know how to pass that name value from the main report hyperlink to the child report parameter. I want the child report parameter to default to the selected main report hyperlink name when the child report opens. In a way, child report should inherit something like CURRENTMEMBER from the main report for its parameter value. At the moment I have managed to set the Placeholder Properties in the main report up to the level that the hyperlink works but when the child report opens it doesn’t point exactly to the selected name in the main report hyperlink. Instead, the child report is opening with a blank page which requires the user to manually select the name of the Health Provider from a dropdown list.

Many thanks,

Mpumelelo
